List Of Asian Intelligence Agencies (2013)

Here is a guide to intelligence agencies across the Asian continent. Most of these institutions are externally focused. Owing to the ambiguous nature of their work, however, some countries often don’t have a clear place for their intelligence apparatus within the government hierarchy. In such cases, there exist frequent overlaps among offices tasked with espionage, law enforcement, domestic security, and plain research.

The responsibilities and roles of these agencies are also influenced by the governments that maintain them. Where one country funds a single, central spy organization, another has several.

To clearly demarcate jurisdiction, a common tendency is separating intelligence agencies between civilian and military control.
